The Mask

Peeking through the window her surprise turned to horror. She saw her mom lay there dead with a bloody knife next to her. She thought to herself who could have done this? Was anyone else home? She saw a shadowy figure and when he came into the light she saw that he was in all black and in a mask.

As she dialed 9-1-1 she heard a faint whisper

“Paige, what are you doing?”

There he was right behind her in a mask with the same knife, but he had cleaned the blood off.

“How do you know my name?” Paige asked.

“Your mother and I became friends in college after you were born.” he explained.

“Why did you kill her?!” she asked.

“Paige your mother promised not to tell anybody something when we were in college and she didn’t keep that promise.”

“ So you killed her!” Paige exclaimed.

“Yes Paige, when she told the police what I did I had to be in prison for ten years.”

“Since you know what I did now I’m going to have to kill you too.” said the man.

“I don’t even know who you are, why would you kill me I don’t have much of a description to tell the police.” Paige tried to explain.

“Your family doesn’t have a very good reputation of staying quiet Paige.” the man said.

Immediately she started sprinting through the street in horror. She went down Adams street to her best friend Rose’s house that was only five minutes away. She thought since Rose’s dad was a police he would know what to do. Once she turned into Rose’s driveway he was about caught up to her and was yelling

“ You can run but you can’t hide!”

When she got to the door she realized they weren’t home, so she ran down an alley and when she looked back he was nowhere to be found. She found some boxes to hide behind in case he came by looking for her. She thought for a while, what is she going to do now, where is she going to go, what is she going to do when he finds her and tries to kill her?
